The nation's largest wartime veterans service organization, dedicated to mentoring youth, advocating patriotism and honor, and serving our veterans.
To make right the master of might; to promote peace and goodwill on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom, and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
The American Legion strengthens America by improving the lives of our veterans, the military, and their families.
Mission Statement: The American Legion strengthens our communities, states, and nation with programs and services for our veterans, the military, and their families.
I am an American Veteran
I proudly served my country
I live the values I learned in the military
I continue to serve my community, my country, and my fellow veterans
I maintain my physical and mental discipline
I continue to lead and improve
I make a difference
I honor and remember my fallen comrades
In 1919, The American Legion was founded on four pillars: Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Each of these pillars encompasses a variety of programs that benefit our nation’s veterans, service members, their families, the youth of America, and ordinary citizens. These programs make a difference in hundreds of thousands of lives each year.
